Tuesday we met with Becky Wilson again. We went over final details. We decided on an event date: November 6th. On the 6th we will have the building competition part of our event. But on October 26th we will start collecting cans for the event until the competition date.
We decided that we are going to mass email all student organizations, contact networks of Circle K, and pass out flyiers around campus to advertise the can collection and can competition. We are hoping to maybe reserve a room in the Union for the building event. If that doesn't work, then we will look into another building such as Lambert.
A major group that might help us with collecting cans will be, Kiwanis. Kiwanis is the parent organization of Circle K. After college students graduate they can join Kiwanis to continue helping out their community. Kiwanis last year delivered a truck load of canned foods to Circle K. Circle K said that they might do the same again this year for our group. To find out more info on this group, visit this link: http://www.kiwanislafayettein.org/
I have attached a video link that is an example of what we would like to do with the competition.
