Final Presentation Prep

After discussing our outline all five of us spilt up the outline equally. We are to develop our presentation over Thanksgiving Break. I am in the middle of developing the Benefits for Circle K and the Benefits for the Community. I am also putting the videos for our presentation onto the slides. After this break, we are all going to collaborate and put our slides together and then finalize our presentation. It is all hopefully going to come together and we should be able to make a 40 to 45 minute presentation.

Today in class our group discussed and came up with an outline for our final presentation. We talked about our entire presentation from the introduction to the conclusion. We talked about the challenges that we faced throughout the project and inprovments that could have been made. We will give the details to those things in our final project. We set up a powerpoint as well today and plan on adding information as we get closer to our day to present. We also plan on having a lot of pictures of our cans and videos to go along with our presentaion. I would say that we are off to a good start.

Final Presentation

This past Friday, my group and I discussed what we are planning for our final presentation. We first looked at the requirements needed for the final presentation. After review of the requirements, we collaborated as a group and discussed what we would like to do. We made a short skeleton of our final presentation. On Monday we are planning on putting a PowerPoint together before the Thanksgiving Weekend.

Creativity Workshops

This past week was very interesting and fun in our Com 320 class. I thought the creativity workshops were fun and actually taught us how to handle small groups and give them a specific activity to do. It made me feel like I was a manager for a small group. It was good practice for my future career. My future career will hopefully by a manager/technical director for feature film industry or a popular game company.

Doing these activities helped me learn how to better manage others in small groups. It also gave me a first hand perspective on how I act within a small group when given a certain activitiy to do.

The Event - Purdue Cirlce K Can-Petition

The Purdue Circle K Can-Petition took place this past Friday. It was at Class of 1950 on the second floor lobby. We had four different groups part take in the event. Two Com 320 groups - from our class, a fraternity, and Com 320 Boilermakers - my group.
The event went smoothly in my eyes. We started at 9am and ended early, 12:30pm. All the groups that did the competition completed their structures in the early morning. While the event was going on, we had Dustin taking pictures of all the structures. They are up above. We are currently having Purdue Circle K judge the photos and hopefully by Monday we can reward the winners with their prizes (donuts)!
I just wanted to thank all who came out and helped out with our event and to my team. I really appreciated it.

I was able to get out on Wed evening and post fliers around the south side of State St. Hopefully this will be able to bring some awareness as to what our group is doing within the next few weeks. Also this week we got the chance to work with others in the class which turned out to be a good experience. It was not really hard for my group do to the fact that we only had one new member. We were given a very interesting problem and that was fun to work with because I gained new knowledge.

Solving Problems

In class this week we had a project that helped us discuss within our groups how to resolve a large problem. We had to solve a previous problem that had already occured in the past with Exxon Oil Company. I think that our group completed this task very well. In our service learning project group, we haven't really run into a whole lot of problems but I believe that if we were to have some problems we would take the correct actions to resolve them.
In COM320 Boilermakers, we started handing out fliers for our canned food drive, we have handed out many fliers, but as far as what Kyle has told us we haven't recieved any response emails to the competition. This could turn into a problem, but I believe that like our group in class, we the COM320 Boilermakers, could make the right decisions.
